This Saturday was Nuit Blanche 10th year! A celebration of creativity and culture curated by Agustin Pérez Rubio (Buenos Aires), Che Kothari (Toronto/L.A) and

Christine Shaw (Toronto). With sound sculptures, interactive installations, a mobile volcano, a 50,000 piece lego structure and an entire zone to New York/ Paris based artist, JR. With more than 400 artists involved in this years 100 exhibits, Nuit Blanche 2015 was one that you regretfully missed if not there.

I was beyond excited this year to find out that New York and Paris based artist JR was the first to ever have his own entire zone to exhibit his art work. I have been following JR's work since Portraits of A Generation. His installations create such significance of binding communities and creating a diversity of culture through images of people from their communities.

"I want to turn the city inside out for one night with the help and energy of the community, so that Toronto creates a powerful image that will be remembered." - JR

I was amongst enthused and curious Toronto patrons waiting in line to be a part of JRs installation at Nathan Phillip Square last week. This installation consisted of an 8 sec photo, printed in black and white through the side of a funky mobile photo booth truck resembling a camera. The image was then blown up to a scale of 3x5 and pasted with wheat paste in different areas of the city. As I stood in line, waiting to get my picture taken, I began to acknowledge the connectivity JR brought without the installation even being a finished product. This feeling became even stronger Saturday night as many stood patiently from all different walks of life waiting to see his finished product.

I was also very excited to see my friend, Sean Martindales, "There is No Way" installation. It definitely opened my eyes to such a prevalent and ignored issue we face everyday; waste management and consumer habits. Carlos Amorales "Black Cloud" installation of 30,000 moths at Power Plant Contemporary, Jon Riera and Jonathan Hirsh's memorabilia installation of live music at the ROUND as well as the Light Cave by FriendsWithYou and Domestic Motion were just some of the many interactive art installations that were a part of Nuit Blanche 2015.

I can not wait to see what will be showcasing at Nuit Blanche next year! I was so happy to be a part of a movement that binds us in unity. If you were there Saturday night, you were a part of a movement, you were a part of art.
